The Central Murray Environmental Floodplain Group's 2026 Basin Plan Review Submission has now been released by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) and is available for public viewing alongside many of the submissions received during the review process.
The 2026 Basin Plan Review attracted 2,470 submissions, with many now published by the MDBA as part of the public consultation process.
Our submission, The Basin Plan – Highway to Hell, outlines CMEFG's concerns about the long-term impacts of current Basin Plan settings on irrigation, regional communities, food production and the environment.
We have also added a new companion publication, Food for Thought – Can Australia protect both its environment and its food security? This eight-page brochure brings together key facts, data and insights from industry presentations and community voices, highlighting the importance of achieving a better balance between environmental outcomes and Australia's food security.
